Colo4Atlanta Starts Rollout of Hybrid Firewall System
Colo4Atlanta has started rolling out stage one of it’s internaly developed hybrid/adaptive firewall system, this move allows us to start testing the first phase of feature sets that will be offered to all dedicated and colocation clients.
The system is a custom designed hybrid mix of several projects Colo4Atlanta has been working on over the past several months. The initial features of the system will allow clients to add/edit/remove adaptive firewall rules on a network wide basis. Any client with one server or 100 servers can make on the fly firewall rule adjustments, for any of their assigned IP’s.
Access to the system is provided via a client portal where they will find a basic feature set of rules and adjustments they can make on a per IP, per VLAN, or per hardware interface basis.
As with any device that can alter network traffic on a wide scale we plan to test it extensively with the first set of clients who volunteered as testers. As issues are found and worked out, Colo4Atlanta will continue a data center wide roll out on a per request basis.
Some initial features include:
- Block country’s via country-to-IP lists updated every 12 hours
- Rate limit the input and/or output of any size IP subnet
- Adaptive rules that can block or throttle any size IP subnet based on packets per second, or bandwidth bitrates
Many more features are being kept confidential pending further development and testing, but expect to see some some very advanced features in the following months.
